Mark Gregston

Mark is the founder and Executive Director of Heartlight, a residential counseling center for struggling teens. He is also the host of the Parenting Today’s Teens radio program, heard on over 1,650 outlets, and spends most weekends leading parenting seminars. A grandparent to four, Mark has been married to his wife, Jan, for 42 years. His background in Young Life, the local church, living with over 3,000 teens, and helping thousands of parents has provided the experience to speak and write to the issues surrounding today’s contrary teen culture.

Mark attended Oklahoma State University and Tulsa University, where he received a degree in Finance with emphasis on real estate investments. His love for teens and their families began as a leader with Young Life, and as a Youth Pastor at First Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later became a Young Life Area Director in Branson, Missouri, where he lived at Kanakuk Kamp. Following their seven-year stay in Missouri, Mark moved his family to Longview, Texas, where they founded Heartlight, a residential counseling facility for 60 struggling teens. Since Heartlight’s beginning in 1989, over 3,000 families have sent their teens to live at the Heartlight program. He continues to be involved with Heartlight as the CEO.

Mark taps into his expertise gathered from working with Young Life, living at a Christian sports camp, his time as a youth pastor, and as a licensed child care administrator to write articles through his blog, Parenting Today’s Teens, that now has a readership of over 500,000. He has written hundreds of parenting articles, and has authored several books.
